Obit: Doris A. Wetzel (nee Bierman), 72, of West Bend

 

July 30, 2018 – West Bend, WI – Doris A. Wetzel (nee Bierman), 72, of West Bend died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at her residence. She was born February 19, 1946 in Milwaukee to Archie and May (nee Wallace) Bierman.

Doris graduated from Hartland Arrowhead High School with the class of 1964. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from UW Whitewater and a Master’s Degree in Education from UWM.

She was a school teacher in Adell, Hartland and West Bend where she taught at Decorah Elementary for 30 years, retiring in 2003.

On February 14, 1988 she was united in marriage to James Wetzel. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2016.

Doris enjoyed square dancing, needlepoint and liked her flower gardens. She enjoyed singing and was a member of several different choral groups. She was a proud member of the Plymouth Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Doris is survived by her sister Marjorie Seifert of Hingham, her nephew Scott (Angela) Seifert of Waldo and 4 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew: Anna, Jack, Natalie, Ellie and Caroline. She is further survived by many other special cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and May Bierman, her husband James Wetzel and her brother-in-law, Jack Seifert.

Funeral service will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Still Waters Community United Methodist Church, 3617 Scenic Road, Jackson with Rev. Lori Lossie officiating. Burial will follow in Lisbon-Merton Union Cemetery. The family will greet visitors on Friday, at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Memorials to Still Waters Community Methodist Church or the Plymouth Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution are appreciated.

The Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend is serving the family.
