Obit: Genevieve Draxler, 89

Genevieve E. Draxler, nee Wagner, of West Bend died on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the Samaritan Health center at the age of 89 years. She was born on December 30, 1926 in Butternut, WI to the late Henry and Elizabeth (nee Hildebrand) Wagner.

On November 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Eugene J. Draxler at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Park Falls, WI.

Following their marriage, the couple lived in Park Falls. For a short time, they lived in Stevens Point before settling in West Bend in 1959. She had been employed at various companies, retiring from Universal Strap in Jackson.

Throughout her life, she was an exceptional crafter. She sewed, painted, dip and drape dolls and she loved to tend to her gardens and caring for her yard.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years Eugene; 3 children Susan of West Bend, Sally of West Bend and Matthew (Joyce) of West Bend; 1 daughter-in-law Linda Draxler of Slinger; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister Rosella Blum of West Bend; brothers-in law and sister-in-law James Miller of West Bend, Frank Draxler of Park Falls, Gloria Draxler of Park Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son Michael, 1 great-grandson, and brothers and sisters Sylvester (Luthera) Wagner, Chester Wagner, Esther Wagner, Vernon Wagner, William (Darlene) Wagner, Elizabeth Miller.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday January 28 at 6 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 until 5:45 p.m. Private burial services will be held.

The family has requested memorials to The Samaritan Health Center.
