Obit: Ronald F. “Ron” Loomis, 81, of West Bend

Dec. 26, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Ronald F. “Ron” Loomis, 81, of West Bend, passed away at his home peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2017, after battling multiple health issues, surrounded by his family.

 

Ron was born on October 25, 1936, in Waukesha, the son of the late Hubert and Lorraine (Mueller) Loomis. He moved to Dundee, graduated from Campbellsport High School, then he enlisted in to the Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. On February 13, 1960, he was united in marriage to Vivian Daye at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Neshkoro. Vivian and Ron then moved to West Bend where they lived happily for 58 years and had six children who were very important to him.

 

Ron was employed by Gehl Company for 41 years where he was a supervisor. Upon retiring in 1999, Ron and Vivian spent their winters in Lady Lake, Florida where he enjoyed his time wood carving and relaxing with many friends. In the summers Ron and Vivian worked in Eagle River at the Chain O’ Lake Campground, which they enjoyed a lot while living in the RV campers. Ron was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend.

 

Ron is survived by his wife, Vivian, of 58 years; five children, Dawn (Steven) Schreiber of Kimberly, Penny (James) Wunsch of Oregon, Robyn (Mike) Kulow of Sheboygan, Steve (Megan Gaskey) Loomis of Saukville, and Scott (Jamie) Loomis of Kenosha; 13 grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle, and Brandon Schreiber, Ben, Jesse, Joshua, and Gabrielle Wunsch, Nicholas, Christian, and Hailey Loomis, and Jason Loomis, Autum and Josh Gaskey; five great-grandchildren, Payton Schreiber, Jackson, Emily, and Conrad Loomis, Easton Priebe-Schreiber; a brother, Edgar (Janette) Loomis; a sister, Joanne (Richard) Baker; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

 

 

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a son, Randy Loomis in July of 2016.

 

Funeral services for Ron will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 323 South 5th Avenue, in West Bend, with Rev. Clarissa Martinelli officiating.

 

Ron’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations to Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church can be made in his name.

 

The Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Home has been entrusted with Ron’s arrangements.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mian for his compassion and care for all these years and Cedar Community Home Health and Hospice Care. A special thanks for the nursing staff and doctors at the Hartford ICU for the great care they provided to Ron.
