Obituary | Paul Hans Bruenn, 90, of Ashford

Jan. 8, 2019 – Ashford, WI – Paul Hans Bruenn, 90, of Ashford was called home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born on June 15, 1928 in Pomerania, Germany to Johann and Rosalie Bruenn  (Kupcheck).  He was united in marriage to Hanna Doering on August 17, 1963 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend.

Paul was a Golden Member at Carl Schurz Memorial Park where he was an avid swimmer and also met his wife, Hanna.  He took great pride in caring for his yard, birds and farm cats.  Paul was a member of the Milwaukee Liedertafel German Men’s Choir.  He loved dancing, singing and playing cards.  Most of all Paul loved his grandchildren.

Paul served in World War II and the Korean War.  He worked as a farm hand, an assembler at Allis Chalmers and retired from American Motors in 1988.

Those Paul leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Hanna; three children, Manfred Bruenn, Carolyn (Gary) Bonlender and Dean (Lorrie) Bruenn, five grandchildren, Timothy Bruenn, Jennifer Bruenn, Emily (Matt Chojnacki) Bonlender, Dylan (Megan Schwartz) Bonlender and Cade Bonlender and two great-grandchildren, Carmelo and Savion.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and beloved dog, Wuschel.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by six siblings and former daughter-in-law, Lynelle Selchert.

Funeral Service for Paul will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Peace United Church of Christ (343 First Street – Kewaskum, WI  53040) with Pastor Russ Knoth officiating.

Paul’s family will greet relatives and friends at Church on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service.

Paul’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Serenity Hospice, especially Valarie, for the loving care they provided.

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home of Kewaskum has been entrusted with Paul’s arrangements.
