February 16, 2023 – Town of Wayne, WI – The blowing snow and slick roads made for some hazardous driving conditions in Washington County, WI on Thursday afternoon as a big pileup brought southbound traffic on I41 near STH 28 to a standstill.
Photographer Steve Sweeney documented the mess as semis and SUVs lined the interstate.

Sweeney said the side country roads weren’t much better.
Semi trucks stalled or slid off the road on Midland Drive. Some trucks and autos diverted from Interstate 41 made driving on side roads extra hazardous Thursday afternoon.
Tow trucks from Bob’s Main Street Auto & Towing had a full day ahead removing vehicles from the ditch and hauling others off the road entirely.
