Public allowed to attend April 6, 2022 West Bend Plan Commission meeting

April 4, 2022 – West Bend, WI – There is a Plan Commission meeting April 6, 2022 in the council chambers at West Bend City Hall.  Neighbors in the area of Sand Drive received a notice of a concept plan proposal regarding a large multifamily and senior citizen living complex at the former Yahr Ready-mix site.

The notice prompted several questions, like the one submitted below.

“Is the 6th meeting open to the public or not? Letter I got said not a public meeting. Developer has been trying to keep public away I think – based on previous notices ‘on the day of’ or ‘a day late’ after meeting already took place. Shady. Never got a follow up to my questions either. Shady. Not very neighborly…”

To be clear, this is an open meeting and YES the public can attend. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.  Click HERE to view the agenda.

The confusion about whether the public can attend appears to be tied to the statement, “This is not a public hearing.”

What that means is, the public/neighbors will NOT be allowed to speak at the meeting. Only the Plan Commission may address the developer and the developer and his team may speak along with the city engineer.

There are eight members on the Plan Commission. There are supposed to be nine but an appointment to fill Bryce Gannon’s seat has gone unfilled for a couple months.
