Incredible Robo-Foundry Build a fully functional, programmable robot from start to finish!

 

This years’ robot is newly redesigned and can connect to The Internet of Things.

 

Start with a bag full of parts, learn what each part does, build your robot, and lastly use computer software to program it.

 

On the last day, it’s time to compete! You will test your building and programming skills against your classmates’ robots.

 

There is a brand new game with a new theme that brings fresh challenges.The robot and software is yours to take home and further experiment with.

 

June 20-23 Monday -Thursday Session 1: Ages 9-14, 8:00 am-Noon, $149 Engineering Camp “Explore Engineering” offers an in depth look at the different careers in engineering as well as hands-on experiments and team projects that allow students to put their new knowledge to work. One college credit will be earned by those successfully completing the course, which also includes site visits and one-on-one time with local engineers at a variety of area firms.

 

June 13-17 from: 9:00 am-4:00 pm Grades: 11th – 12th grade Fee: $425, which includes daily lunch and all program materials. App Attack! Take the first steps into the world of mobile app design and customize your own game app! Using a specialized app & game development tool, explore the world of web-based apps. In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and game development, also see firsthand how the world of App publishing functions. Student created apps will be accessible on a private site and can be played on any mobile device or computer. No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smartphone or tablet to take the class.

 

June 27-July 1 Monday-Friday Session 1: Ages 9-11, 9:00am-Noon, $220 Session 2: Ages 12-14, 1:00pm-4:00pm, $220 Make Your First 3-D Video Game! Try this new version of a Black Rocket classic! By popular demand, we redesigned our 3-D game design class from beginning to end. Develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2-D game design classes. Students will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling flow of game play, and story telling. Student created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.

 

July 11-15 Monday-Friday Session 1: Ages 9-11, 9:00am-Noon, $220 Session 2: Ages 12-14, 1:00pm-4:00pm, $220 Digital Storytellers From the Hunger Games to Harry Potter we all love a great story. Whether you want to rewrite the ending to Star Wars, add yourself to a Divergent tale, or create a new adventure about your friends – any topic is possible in this class! Start with a concept, design the storyboard, add some dialogue, and watch as the characters in your imagination come to life in your first graphic novel!

 

Projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs/teams.

Students will create their own LEGO universe, characters, and adventures in an interactive 2-D Video Game. Everyone is welcome in this one of a kind class. At the end of the program, every student will have a finished LEGO Video Game that can be shared with friends and family through a password protected Black Rocket website.

 

Games are only compatible on PC computers; Mac versions can be created after the program for a $15 conversion fee. Aug 1-5 Monday-Friday Session 1: Ages 9-11, 9:00am-Noon, $220 Session 2: Ages 12-14, 1:00pm-4:00pm, $220
