VIDEO | The power of a smile and a wave in Jackson, WI

Jackson, WI – Tracy Leigh is single-handedly responsible for brightening a lot of people’s day. Leigh is dressed in a reflective fluorescent vest and armed with a stop sign and walkie talkie. She is efficient and helps keep traffic moving around construction off CTH P and Western Avenue in the Village of Jackson. Her secret is a smile and a wave.  To everyone.

 

”If I miss you… I’ll catch you when you’re coming back through,” she said with a laugh.

Leigh has been swinging traffic for a couple months. “I absolutely love my job,” she said.

And is she making a difference? Let’s just say Leigh is receiving a very Midwest response.

“People stop and give me cookies and eggs and energy drinks…” she said. “They roll down the window so I can see the kids in the car and the dogs and people wave.”

All day they wave. And smile.

Property loss management

When questioned whether she knew about the fame she was garnering in the small community of Jackson, Leigh who hails from Brookfield said, “Someone told me to look at a Jackson neighbor page on social media and I couldn’t believe it. It’s just amazing.”
