Man, 62, dead following boat incident on Lake Michigan in Sheboygan County | By Lt. James Gottsacker

September 4, 2023 – Sheboygan Co., Wi – On Monday, September 4, 2023 at approximately 3:08 p.m., the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call in reference to a 62-year-old male from Sheboygan Falls that had been pulled to the beach area on the eastern side of Whistling Straits Golf Course which is located in the Town of Mosel in northeast Sheboygan County.

The male had been on a boat on Lake Michigan a short distance off the coast by Whistling Straits when he reportedly went into the water and did not surface.

It is believed the boat was not underway when the incident occurred.

The other person with him on the boat, a 57-year-old male also from Sheboygan Falls, pulled him to shore and began lifesaving measures.

The investigation is ongoing, and names will be released Tuesday September 5, 2023, after noon.

The following public safety agencies assisted in this incident: Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the United States Coast Guard, Fire Departments from Haven, Howards Grove, and Town of Sheboygan as well as Howards Grove First Responders and Orange Cross Ambulance.
