Hartford and Slinger to activate sirens on Friday, November 11 at 11 a.m. | By Chief Paul Stephans

Hartford/Slinger, Wi – The City of Hartford and Village of Slinger will activate the sirens at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 11 a.m. to honor our veterans on Veterans Day.

The day marks the anniversary of the end of World War I.  Each year we honor ALL veterans by sounding the siren for 15 seconds.

Veterans Day is recognized annually through a variety of ceremonies at local schools and in public squares across Washington County, Wi.

Ceremonies generally carry similar messages to honor veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces.

The United States previously observed Armistice Day. The U.S. holiday was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.
