Slinger, Wi. — Sara Hansen, a business education teacher at Slinger High School, was awarded a 2026 Accounting Career Awareness Grant by the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) Educational Foundation earlier this year.

With the grant, Hansen was able to organize a Slinger school student field trip to meet the Accounting department, tour the ballpark and participate in a Q&A session with the accounting personnel for the Brewers.
Hansen is one of 15 educators to receive an Accounting Career Awareness Grant this year. The grant is open to Wisconsin high school accounting and business teachers who attended the WICPA High School Educators Accounting Symposium last November.
“I want to congratulate these educators and thank them for generating excitement about the accounting profession both inside and outside their classrooms,” said Jeff Dewane, president of the WICPA Educational Foundation Board. “With the help of these grants, nearly 550 students across Wisconsin gained hands-on knowledge and a deeper understanding of the limitless opportunities that the accounting profession has to offer.”
The WICPA Educational Foundation plays a pivotal role in supporting programs to improve awareness and perceptions by educating Wisconsin students and educators about the exciting opportunities available in the accounting profession. Many of the Accounting Career Awareness Grant projects involve teachers, administrators, college or technical school faculty, and CPAs across the state.
