West Bend, WI – It is Giving Tuesday on November 28, 2023, the West Bend Fire Department is asking for gifts of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms to help keep the community safe. A donation of 10-year lithium-ion battery smoke alarms and plug in with battery backup carbon monoxide alarms.

The makes and models of the units we would like include:
Smoke Alarms with 10-year batteries
Kidde i9010 (ionization)
Kidde P3010 (photoelectric)
First Alert SMI110
First Alert SA3210
First Alert PR710
Carbon Monoxide Alarms – Plug in with Battery Backup
Kidde KN-COPP-3 (9-volt battery backup)
Kidde KN-COP-DP-B (10-year battery backup)
First Alert CO615 (3 pack at Costco for $60)
Because the smoke alarms are going in the homes owned by people 65 and older, some with mobility issues, please avoid any smoke alarm donations that require 9 volt or AA batteries.
There are too many homes that currently have smoke alarms with dead or no batteries because of the difficulty for these people to change the batteries.
Smoke alarms purchased can be dropped off at Station 1 or directly shipped to:
West Bend Fire Department
325 N. Eighth Ave
West Bend, WI, 53095
Just a reminder that smoke, carbon monoxide, and combustible gas alarms make great gifts for friends and family.
Smoke alarms should be placed:
*Inside each sleeping area
*Outside the sleeping areas
*On every level of the home
*Replace every 10 years
Carbon monoxide and combustible gas alarms should be placed:
*On every level of the home – near sleeping areas if possible
*Replace every seven years
Please call (262) 335-5054 (press 1 at the prompt) if you have any questions or comments. Thank you in advance for your support of fire-prevention programs.
