Obituary | Richard James German, 65, of West Bend, Wi

November 28, 2023 – West Bend, WI -Richard James German, 65, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Froedtert Hospital, Wauwatosa.

He was surrounded by his children during his passing. In 2013 Rich was diagnosed with AML, an aggressive form of Leukemia, received a bone marrow transplant in 2014 but was again diagnosed with the illness in 2023. Rich fought courageously through his second bone marrow transplant and recovery until his Heavenly Father called him home.

Rich was born on July 9, 1958, in West Bend where he lived throughout his life. He worked most of his adult life as local truck driver and took great pride in his strong work ethic.

Rich is survived by his sons: Alan (Brittney) and Jason; his daughter Katie (Fiancé Spencer Daul); his grandchildren: Skyler, Bryce, Camryn, Penelope, and Adlee. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathie Lofy (Greg), Michael (Sharon), Mark (Lauria) and Meg Mucha (Bob) as well as his nephews, niece, cousins and many other loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mary (Faber).

Rich enjoyed helping his family and friends in any way he could. Even through all of his medical adversity, Rich always had high spirits, happiness, and treated everybody with respect. We will miss his quick-witted humor, laugh and smile.

He was a talented handy man who could build or fix anything. Rich enjoyed spending time with friends, going up north, classic cars and listening to music. Most of all, he treasured his time spent with his children and grandchildren who cherished him dearly.

His family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, 12/02/23 at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. -12 noon with funeral services to follow. The Burial will be at approximately 1 p.m. at Washington County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in his honor.

The Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend is serving the family.
