On Saturday, January 9, both the SHS women’s and men’s varsity along with men’s junior varsity teams took first place in giant slalom and slalom events. Junior Varsity 2 took first place in giant slalom and third place in slalom events.

Marisa Reyes, a senior at SHS, took first place in both events in her age group.

Slinger teammates Ethan Smith and Brady Jackson stood atop the leaderboard. Smith is currently in first place in slalom and second in giant slalom with Jackson in second place for slalom and first place for giant slalom.

Slinger’s Delaney Braun, who is returning to the slopes following a year off due to injury, took fourth in her division in slalom and third in giant slalom.  This gave her enough points to achieve second and fourth place standings in the high school divisions.

On Sunday racers were pumped, conditions on the hill were nice, but the giant slalom course was set a bit tougher than usual.

Smith, Jackson, and Brayden Nagra swept the podium in slalom.

Jackson and Smith won first and second place in giant slalom events. Reyes held onto first place in both events for the high school division and Braun moved up to third place in the giant slalom event.

Men’s JV 1 and 2 took both first and third place.

This year due to COVID-19, the teams have been split into two men’s and women’s heats in order to stay within social distancing guidelines. The number of spectators at the bottom of the course is also limited.
