Cup stacking combines hand-eye coordination with speed. “It’s a wonderful activity for all ages 3-years to 99-years-old,” said Matter. “It makes connections in the brain that are unbelievable and helps in every other aspect of life because of the dual nature of the hands.”

Students stood at long tables and with focused concentration swiftly grabbed a colorful series of cups, stacking and then unstacking them in nimble fashion.

Rosalie, 9, said her ability to play the piano gave her an edge. “Because you use two hands with the piano and you use two hands with stacking,” she said.
