Washington Co., WI – National issues like supply chain, price increases, inflation, and demand for employees is hitting home in Washington County.
Jodi Janisse-Kanzenbach, owner of The Precinct and Barley Pop Pub, and bartender Mike sat down to shine a spotlight on how the issues facing the restaurant industry are having an impact at establishments in Germantown, West Bend, and the rest of Washington County.
“What’s going on in the restaurant industry, I’m not sure if people are really fully aware of where we’re at two years later after Covid hit, we’re still not out of the clear.”
“We’re battling a lot of things like staffing issues, supply chain, price increases, Wisconsin cold weather. I mean that’s a typical thing for us in this industry right now but it’s rough and it’s not easy for a lot of the restaurants. All of them are struggling and I just wanted to bring some light to that subject, and make sure people really still are aware of what is happening out there.”
Janisse-Kanzenbach said there are a lot of the same issues including being short on staff and wait times are a little longer.
“You can tell in the grocery stores but for commercial outlets it’s hitting us hard. What’s really happening at this point is the big issue with availability of meats and seafoods and the cost just going through the roof. So, if you see things on restaurant menus that are changing, most likely it’s because they either can’t get it, or the prices increase is so much there’s no way we can put that on a plate for you.”
“Going through our orders and looking at pricing and we’re having to substitute and change things weekly which is normal for us we like to change things up but now it’s not because we want to, we’re being forced to because either we can’t get that product, or we can’t put that product out for you for a reasonable price or what I feel comfortable is reasonable price for our guests.”
