Washington Co. Human Services Director resigns

Washington County

Dec. 5, 2016 – West Bend, WI  –Washington County Administration to start search for new director

Washington County Human Services Director Eric Diamond turned in his resignation announcing he would leave the department on January 11. Diamond has accepted a leadership position in Milwaukee County’s Behavioral Health Department, citing a better fit for him as a professional and for his family.

“Eric’s resignation comes as a surprise,” said County Administrator Joshua Schoemann.  “We wish Eric all the best in Milwaukee County. I am very happy for Eric to have an opportunity to seek his passion working more closely with his clients. While his vision and leadership will be missed in Washington County, I remain confident in the team we have in place and their ability to work together to serve our citizens while we search for a new Director.”

“I am deeply grateful for all of the support and opportunities that I have been provided over the last three and a half years.  I have truly enjoyed working with Washington County Administration, the Human Services Committee, Human Services Department Staff, and the many consumers, agencies and other stakeholders across Washington County.  I have learned a great deal in my time here, and will look forward to hearing about the future success of Washington County, its programs, and its talented and hardworking staff,” said Diamond.

Diamond joined the Washington County Human Services Department in April 2013, served as the Department’s Behavioral Health Manager for nearly two years before being promoted to the Client Services Director position in January 2015.  In July 2015, Diamond was promoted to Human Services Administrator on an interim basis, leading to his permanent promotion in January 2016. Eric and his team will work closely in the coming weeks to ensure that these initiatives continue.

Schoemann and the County’s leadership team will work closely with the Human Services team to assess the best next steps, and hope to post for the new Director position early in the first quarter of 2017.
