Washington County Sheriff staff participates in law enforcement bike rides for Police Week | By Washington Co. Sheriff

May 17, 2022 – Washington County, WI – Washington County Sheriff’s staff participated in two different law enforcement bicycle rides for Police Week; the Police Unity Tour and Law Enforcement United.

The Police Unity Tour started in Valley Forge, PA on May 9, 2022, covering approximately 250 miles and ending in Washington D.C. on May 12, 2022, at the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial (NLEOM).
Staff members participating in this ride (photo above) were: Stephanie Hanson (District Attorney’s Office), Corrections Officer Jim Judkins, Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Miller, Communications Sgt. Jill Raffay-Schmidt and Dale Schmidt (Sheriff-Retired).
Our staff members in conjunction with the other 1,800 members of the Police Unity Tour across the country were able to raise and donate approximately $2-million dollars to the NLEOM.
The Law Enforcement United–Tough Ride started in Roanoke, VA on May 10, 2022 covering approximately 275 miles and ending in Washington D.C. on May 12, 2022. Deputy Sheriff Sgt. Chad Beres participated in this ride along with 14 other officers from Wisconsin.
Through their fundraising efforts, Law Enforcement United was able to donate $75,000/each to the Spirit of Blue Foundation and the Officer Down Memorial Page and $350,000 to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS).
