The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. The West Volleyball Team has achieved a team 3.61 GPA.Â
“The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today,” said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. “Achievement on the court has always been closely tied to success in the classroom which is reflected by the number of championship programs honored.”
When asked about this outstanding team academic award Head Coach Debbie Butschlick said, “The classroom will help you with finding your dream job, but the volleyball court will help you find your true friends. For our team, the classroom and volleyball court go hand in hand to create a close-knit Volleyball Family.”
West Athletic Director, Erin Felber said, “I am incredibly proud of our Spartan volleyball program for earning this great honor.” “They are true role models for the school community in both the classroom and on the court.”
