Obit: David C. Toft, 83, of West Bend

July 7, 2017 – West Bend, WI – David C. Toft, age 83 years of West Bend, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, July 5, 2017.

David was born in Racine to Douglas and Dorothy (nee Petersen) Toft.  David’s father was a Colonel in the US Army, so Dave traveled the country and world.  He graduated high school from Frankfurt High School in Frankfurt Germany. He was a 1955 graduate of the University of WI Madison with a BA in Mechanical Engineering.  He married the late Mary Ann (nee Balice) on September 27, 1958 in Racine.  He served in the US Army.  David worked at the West Bend Company for 39 years and retired as the Vice President of Total Quality-Housewares.  He enjoyed spending time with his late wife Mary, his children and grandchildren along with taking vacations with his family in WI and around the country.  Dave loved being active which included golfing, hunting, fishing, trap shooting and was a season ticket holder of the Green Bay Packers.  Dave was a member of the West Bend County Club, West Bend Kiwanis, Junior Achievement and Cedar Lake Community Board of Directors.

Dave is survived by his children Chris (Ron) Reichert and Anne (Ken) Sillars, grandchildren Kayla (Brian) Bennewitz, Heidi (Will) Wright, Cory Sillars, Ashly Sillars, Rose Reichert, siblings Don (Arlene) Toft, Dan (Audrey) Toft, siblings-in-law Joanne Hauck, James Balice, Sue (Ed) Ladwig, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary and brother Duane.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church.  Interment to follow mass at Holy Angels Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church only on Saturday, July 15 from 10:00 am until time of Mass (12:00 pm).  Memorials are appreciated to Cedar Community or Holy Angels Catholic Church.

A Special Thank You to the staff at Cedar Lake Home Health and Hospice for assisting Dave and his family through his journey. The family would also like to extend a Special Thank You to all his friends, family and caregivers that have helped Dave during his courageous battle.
