Obituary | Carol Lorraine Halsey, 77, of Hartford

October 28, 2019 – Hartford, WI – Carol L. Halsey, 77, found peace on Sunday, October 27, 2019. She was born in Dixon, IL on December 23, 1941 to parents, Carl and Pauline (Culp) Boehle. Carol was a 1959 graduate of Amboy High School, IL. She was united in marriage on March 28, 1959 to Robert Halsey.

Robert and Carol moved to Hartford in 1963. She began her working years at Chrysler Outboard, she then enjoyed her time as a soda jerk at the drugstore in downtown Hartford. She owned and operated Countryside Travel until her retirement in 1996.

In retirement she and Bob enjoyed spending winters in Bokeelia, Florida, and summers at their log cabin in Alma, WI. She will be remembered for her energetic passion to help family prepare for events and celebrations. Most of all Carol will be remembered for her laughter and sense of humor.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert; five children; Jacki (Dan) Bakker, Michael, Jodi (Steve) Anderson, Janet (Greg) McKnight and Jill (Dan) Gehring; thirteen grandchildren, Randi (fiancé Angel) Dotseth, Jerry (Zeze) Dotseth, Sarah Bakker, Nathan (Nicole) Schultz, Alyse (Louie) Sandow, Alaria (Nick) Petrulis, Alek Anderson, Brandon (Sara) McKnight, Robert McKnight, Allen (Ashley) McKnight, Alexandra Gehring, Douglas Gehring and Christian Gehring; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Doris Garland, Larry (Barbara) Boehle, Jerry (Betty) Boehle, Mary (Gary) Zell, Jim (Debbie) Boehle, and Tom Boehle; brother-in-law, Terry (Bev) Halsey and sisters-in-law, Tudy (Gerald) Gum and Lee Carroll; also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carol is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Robert; brother, Gene Boehle; two brothers-in-law, Ray and Don.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Kilian Catholic Church, 264 W. State St., Hartford on Tuesday, November 12 at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. David LaPlante presiding. Visitation for family and friends from 1:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Nikolas Ritschel Foundation, www.nikolasritschelfoundation.org in honor of Carol’s nephew. The family would like to thank Serenity Villa for their loving care and support to both Bob and Carol.
