December 14, 2023 – Fond du Lac, WI –

On Thursday, December 14, 2023, at approximately 12:42 a.m. a deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on northbound Interstate 41 at Johnson Street in the town of Fond du Lac, County of Fond du Lac, State of Wisconsin.

The deputy activated his emergency lights and siren and the vehicle did not yield to attempts to stop it. The vehicle exited eastbound onto Johnson Street, where it increased its speed and attempted to elude the deputy.

The deputy was able to obtain a license plate and description of the vehicle. The vehicle continued eastbound on Johnson Street at a high rate of speed. This pursuit was terminated due to unsafe speeds. This pursuit lasted approximately 1.12 miles.

Shortly after the termination, the vehicle was located again by the City of Fond du Lac Police Department near the intersection of Military Road and Rolling Meadows Drive.

Officers with the City of Fond du Lac Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle, and the vehicle increased its speed and attempted to elude officers for a second time. A pursuit was initiated by the City of Fond du Lac Police Department, but was terminated a short time later due to the unsafe speeds.

A short time later, an officer with the Village of North Fond du Lac Police Department observed the same vehicle traveling eastbound on Winnebago Street at a high rate of speed.

An additional attempt to stop the vehicle was made, at which point the vehicle increased its speed and attempted to elude law enforcement again. A short pursuit ensued, but was terminated after approximately one mile.

After the pursuit was terminated, the vehicle struck a tire deflation device previously set up by officers with the Fond du Lac Police Department.

The vehicle continued unpursued eastbound on Scott Street, and was located at the dead end of Hickory Street and Montana Street.

Officers initiated a high-risk traffic stop on the parked vehicle. Officers located a male subject, and identified him as the driver of the vehicle during the pursuits. The driver was cooperative with commands from law enforcement, and was taken into custody without incident. There were no other occupants located in the vehicle.

The driver was identified as a 32-year-old male from Appleton, Wisconsin. He is a convicted felon, and is currently out bond conditions for felony charges in Fond du Lac County, and misdemeanor bond conditions in Outagamie County. He was arrested for Knowingly Fleeing an Officer, Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a repeater enhancement, Possession of Narcotic drugs with a repeater enhancement, Felony Bail Jumping, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and operating with a revoked license.

A civilian vehicle and a City of Fond du Lac Police Department squad car also struck the tire deflation devices resulting in flat tires. No other property was damaged, and no injuries occurred as a result of this incident.

The Wisconsin State Patrol, Village of North Fond du Lac Police Department, City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, and the City of Fond du Lac Police Department assisted with Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office with this incident.
