March 19, 2023 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Saturday, March 18, 2023, at approximately 7:55 p.m., a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a vehicle traveling westbound on HWY 23 near Henrich Road in the town of Lamartine.

When running the vehicle registration, the Deputy observed the registered owner had an active felony warrant through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for a parole violation.

As the Deputy attempted to make contact with the vehicle it was apparent that the vehicle had increased its speed attempting to flee from the area and a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle turned from Rose-Eld Rd onto HWY 26 northbound. In the area was an Officer with the Village of Rosendale Police Department who assisted in the pursuit. The vehicle continued its excessive speed north on HWY 26 and visual of the driver was lost briefly and the pursuit was terminated. While checking the area, the Deputy observed low hanging power lines across HWY 26 near Olden Rd.

The vehicle had ultimately traveled off the roadway into the west ditch at Olden Rd, striking a power pole and disabling the vehicle. The operator exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The Deputy and Rosendale Officer were able to locate the subject running in a farm field north of the crash location and took him into custody without incident.

The suspect is a 31-year-old male from the City of Fond du Lac. Currently he is on Parole for Forgery out of Waushara County. He is currently being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on Felony Flee/Elude and Resisting an Officer along with several other traffic violations.

Both lanes on HWY 26 were shut down for approximately 2 hours while Alliant Energy worked to remove the power lines from the roadway.

No squad cars were damaged from the pursuit. The suspect’s vehicle sustained disabling damage from the crash. Ripon Ambulance and Rosendale First Responders evaluated the suspect for injuries at the scene and he was transported to St Agnes Hospital where he was later released to deputies.

The pursuit covered a total distance of approximately 6 miles. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Officer with the Village of Rosendale Police Department, Troopers with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Rosendale first responders and Fire Department as well as Ripon Ambulance.
