February 5, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Friday February 2, 2024 at approximately 9:48 a.m. the Fond du Lac County Communication Center received a report of a 2-vehicle crash on Kiel Road near Schoenborn Road in the Township of Calumet, Fond du Lac County.
Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Wisconsin State Patrol,Calumet Fire Department, Calumet First Responders and Mt. Calvary Ambulance responded to the scene.
Initial investigation is that a pickup truck traveling westbound on Kiel Rd crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound semi-tractor trailer. After impact, both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch of Kiel Rd.
The operator of the westbound pickup truck, a 53-year-old male from Newton, Wisconsin, was pronounced deceased on scene. Mt. Calvary Ambulance transported the operator of the semi-tractor trailer, a 62-year-old male from Menasha, Wisconsin, from the scene to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
The Fond du Lac County Highway Department assisted in closing Kiel Rd between Schoenborn Rd and CTH G for approximately 5 hours. The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
