$100,000 damage following house fire in Town of Hartford, Wi | By Lieutenant Hope Demler  

July 26. 2026Town of Hartford, Wi – On Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 2:47 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a house fire, at 6289 STH 60 in the Town of Hartford, Washington County, WI.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies, Hartford Police, Town of Hartford Police, and the Hartford Fire Department responded to the scene.

The resident called 911 and said his house was on fire and there was black smoke coming out from under the
roof, near the attic. The resident said he could only see smoke and did not see any active flames. The resident
safely evacuated the house with his two dogs.

Hartford fire personnel arrived on scene and began fire suppression efforts and quickly extinguished the flames.

The fire was contained to the attic area. The residence is a single-family two-story home. The home sustained
minimal fire damage but significant smoke and water damage. Estimated damage to the property is
approximately $100,000.

The Hartford Fire Department was assisted by Slinger Fire, Jackson Fire, St. Lawrence Fire, and Lifestar Rescue. WE
Energies assisted fire personnel on scene.

There were no injuries to civilians, pets, or First Responders. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by
the Hartford Fire Department
