July 5, 2023 – Richfield, WI – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the 10th traffic fatality of 2023. On July 3rd at 11:49 a.m., the Washington County Dispatch Center received a report of a single motorcycle crash on Hubertus Road near E. Murray Lane in the Village of Richfield.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office along with the Richfield Fire Department responded to the scene.
Upon arrival of the Richfield Fire Department, Flight for Life was requested to the scene and landed on E. Murray Lane.. The driver, who was the lone occupant on the motorcycle, died on scene despite life saving efforts.
The initial investigation revealed the operator, a 22-year-old male Waukesha County resident, was traveling west bound on Hubertus Road when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve in the roadway.
The motorcycle left the roadway and struck several trees causing fatal injuries to the driver. He was wearing a helmet.
Hubertus Road between Sonseeahray Drive and E. Murray Lane was closed for approximately three hours to assist in accident investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and no further information will be released at this time.
