Obituary | James “Pops” Isleb, 73, of Hartford

January 7, 2021 – Hartford, WI – James “Pops” Isleb, 73, passed to eternal life on Thursday, December 21, 2020.

Pops enjoyed fixing anything and everything, hunting, fishing, Corvettes, the Packers, anything military, and loved life.


SSG “Jimmy the Bear” Isleb served his country as a United States Marine from 1966-1970, including 18 months in Vietnam, and as a Soldier with the United States Army Reserve for 16 years including a tour in Afghanistan at the agile young age of 56.

Pops is survived and loved by his two children, Adam and Erin Isleb; stepchildren Elizabeth and Ian Busch; four grandchildren Andrew, Aiden, Carlie and Natalie, and siblings Dave and Sue Isleb.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, January 21 2021, at Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street Hartford, WI 53027 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Pops will then be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m. located at 21731 Spring St, Union Grove Wisconsin. Please meet at Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Honor Flight, or Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in James’ name.
