Saying ‘Thanks’ to Liz Malecha for 41 years of service | By Jess Tischler

March 25, 2021 – Washington Co., WI – After 41 years of service to the women of Washington County beloved nurse midwife Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Malecha is retiring. Her last day in practice will be March 31.

Below is a note written by Jess Tischler CNM who hopes Liz enjoys her much-deserved retirement.

Liz M

Liz is one of the most hard-working compassionate loyal midwives most of us have ever known. She has always been the most supportive and committed team member and work partner.

After working as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 16 years, she went on to Marquette University to study midwifery and obtain her master’s degree in nursing.

She did all that while being a devoted loving wife to her husband Dale and an affectionate gentle mother to her four children Shannon, DJ, Katie, and Sara.

She now also has nine doting grandchildren and her adorable pups to keep her busy in her newfound retirement.

I am sure she will also enjoy her newfound free time with her extended family and friends who’ve long waited her time without interruption by the sound of a beeping pager.

Oh, the life of a dedicated midwife.

Liz was the first and sole nurse midwife in all of Washington County for over 10 years. She had the courage and drive to fight through the barriers to bring midwifery care to the women of this community and for that contribution we will always be indebted.

Liz is and always will be an integral part of Midwifery Services here in our community. Her contributions will always be valued and remembered by all the lives she touched.

Liz has delivered thousands of children safely into the loving arms of their parents including her beautiful grandchildren

Liz has always been committed to the ‘with women’ philosophy of midwifery care and is provided safe individualized care to women of all ages throughout her long career.

The entire community benefited from Liz’s passion for providing exceptional care to women and their families.

It is difficult, if not impossible to sum up all her accomplishments and contributions to healthcare, midwifery, and the community in her 41 years of service here in Washington County.

Liz you will be greatly missed by all.

Please join me in wishing Liz Malecha all the best in her much-deserved retirement.

  1. The best, she was the absolute best! I loved her like she was family as she brought my brother into the world and I had been going to her for all of my obgyn needs. Most caring compassionate healthcare worker I have ever met. It will be so hard to replace her.
