August 12, 2021 – Town of Erin, WI – On Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 4:39am the Washington County Dispatch Center was notified of a traffic accident with injuries on Dublin Drive north of O’Connell Street in the Town of Erin.
The caller did not witness the accident. Deputies were dispatched to the scene along with Hartford Fire & Rescue.
The caller was able to remove the driver from the vehicle prior to the arrival of the deputies. Upon the arrival of the first deputy life-saving efforts were started and continued upon the arrival of Hartford Fire & Rescue, but ultimately the efforts were unsuccessful.
The initial investigation indicated the vehicle was traveling northbound on Dublin Drive after negotiating the curve on O’Connell Street. The vehicle traveled left of center, went off-road left and struck a tree in the west ditch line.
The  top of the vehicle was almost completely sheared off exposing the entire passenger compartment and the driver was partially ejected although it appeared that he had been wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team. The driver’s family has been notified, but we are not releasing the driver’s name at this time.
