2 die in Fond du Lac County crash; victims named | By Lt. Eric S. Halbach, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office

On September 2, 2023, ThedaCare Medical Center notified the Fond du Lac County
Sheriff’s Office the passenger had died of her injuries.

September 2, 2023 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Friday, September 1, 2023, at 6:49 p.m., the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s along with North Fond du Lac Ambulance and Van Dyne Fire Department were dispatched to a 2-vehicle crash on Van Dyne Road at Subway Road in the Township of Friendship, Fond du Lac County Wisconsin.

The initial investigation shows that a westbound vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old Fond du
Lac woman failed to stop at the stop sign on Subway Road and was struck by a northbound motorcycle, driven by a 58-year-old Oshkosh man. The operator of the motorcycle and his
passenger, a 56-year-old Oshkosh woman, were ejected from the motorcycle. The operator who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, who was wearing a helmet, was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the westbound vehicle was evaluated at St. Agnes Hospital for minor injuries.

Van Dyne Road between Melody Lane and CTH N was closed for approximately 4 hours
while the crash was investigated.

Inattentive driving is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Assisting at the scene were the Wisconsin State Patrol, North Fond du lac Police
Department, Van Dyne First Responders, North Fond du Lac Fire Department, Theda Star
Helicopter, the Fond du Lac County Highway Department, and the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office.
