Record donation for 2025 annual Coaches vs. Cancer event | By Deb Martola

Slinger, WI – In October, the 2025 annual Coaches vs Cancer game night football fundraiser saw two formidable opponents, the Hartford Orioles and the Slinger Owls, match up on the field for bragging rights to take home the travelling trophy. The bigger impact on the evening was the collaboration between families, friends, fans and the community to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

This year the total raised was $18,930.95, bringing the 15-year total to well over $200,000.
The traveling trophy was created and named in memory of several Slinger and Hartford football family members who lost their battle to cancer, beginning with Slinger football coach, Kevin Wilkinson (and co-founder of the first local CVC event), adding Darrell Redders, father of HUHS varsity head coach John Redders in 2017, and finally Brenda Jacklin, wife of SHS varsity head coach Bill Jacklin in 2023.
This event continues to be gratefully blessed every year with sponsors, monetary and gift contributions, and an amazing game-night fundraiser.
Watch and participate in next year’s 16th annual game-night fundraiser at Hartford Union High School on October 9, 2026.
