WIS 33 in Allenton, WI now open as RR work complete | By Ron Naab

Allenton, WI – Good news for motorists passing through Allenton, Wi, as the work on the railroad is complete and WIS 33 is open to traffic.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) closed the road June 4 with hopes of reconstructing the RR crossing in eight days. Looks like the weather cooperated, for the most part, and it’s clear sailing through Allenton, WI.

Below is an initial story about the project that posted prior to June 4, 2024.

Allenton, WI – Motorists will want to pay attention to a marked detour as the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has fully closed WIS 33 in the town of Allenton in Washington County.
Wisconsin Central Ltd. (Canadian National Railway) is reconstructing its railroad crossing between Weis Street and County W (Railroad Street). Driveways for residents and local businesses will not be impacted.

To complete the work, crews require a full closure of WIS 33 at the crossing for eight days starting Tuesday, June 4. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

An official detour will be posted:

The detour is I41 south to CTH K to STH 175 to STH 33 to head west.

If you’re coming west on STH 33 then it’s south on STH 175 to CTH K east to 141 north.
