December 30, 2023 – Fond du Lac Co., Wi – On December 30, 2023 at 12:38 a.m., the Fond du LacCounty Communication Center received a 911 call about a possible house fire at W698 Airport Road located in the Township of Osceola, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin.
Thick smoke was reported to be coming from the chimney and basement. All seven occupants were able to evacuate the building before the arrival of emergency crews.
Deputies arriving on scene noticed thick smoke filling the residence upon their arrival.
Shortly after the arrival of the initial responding fire units, flames were seen spreading through the floor near the wood-burning chimney.
The fire spread from the basement ceiling through to the first floor. Portions of the floor and chimney were destroyed before the fire was contained, but the fire damage limited to area around the fireplace. The entire structure sustained smoke damage. Â
​Preliminary investigation shows the fire started in a portion of the chimney just below the first floor. The origin of the fire is not considered suspicious at this time. One occupant was evaluated at the scene for breathing trouble related to the fire, but was not transported. There were no other injuries resulting from this fire. Â
The Campbellsport Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the following fire departments; Campbellsport Ambulance, Mount Calvary Fire Department, Eden Fire Department, St. Cloud Fire Department, Kewaskum Fire Department, Cascade Fire Department, Beechwood Fire Department, Lomira Fire Department, Brownsville Fire Department, and RIT team 4. The Township of Osceola also assisted at the scene.
