December 3, 2019 – Allenton, WI – Ron and Ann Naab of Allenton traveled to the Waupaca area on Friday, November 29 to make deliveries to the King Veterans Donation Center. This is the sixth year the Naabs organized a delivery of personal hygiene items, new underwear and socks along with clothing for veterans living at King. Other donations included housekeeping supplies and books collected from friends of the couple.
The Naabs also presented a check for $1,000; the money came from the 2019 American Tribute Ride to Camp American Legion at Lake Tomahawk.
Amber Nikolai, Wisconsin American Legion Department Adjutant, accepted the check along with Michael Burt, chairman of Camp American Legion Department.
According to the Camp American Legion website, “this is a place for Wisconsin Veterans, Military and their families come together in a safe place. … It can help families to reconnect, bring a new appreciation for each other for couples and helps us to heal on our journey to find our own quality of life.
“This is a most gratifying day in our lives,” said Ann Naab. “Being able to donate to support the associations that support our veterans and their families.”
The American Tribute Ride is a fund-raising event held the fourth Saturday of July to support veterans groups such as Old Glory Honor Flights, King Veterans Center, Wreaths Across America, and Camp American Legion. Other organizations receiving support include Concern of Police Survivors-Wisconsin, Wisconsin Firefighters Memorial and Wisconsin Summer Camp for Burn Youth Survivors. This is the seventh year for the Tribute Ride as it continues its mission to be supportive and involved in emergency services of Wisconsin.
Each year the ride moves to a new area of southeastern Wisconsin. In 2019 the route went from Lamartine Fire Station to Markesan Fire Station to Neshkoro Fire Station to New Chester Fire Department and ended at the Coloma Village Park.
The 2020 American Tribute Ride will begin at Juneau Fire Station.
