May 25, 2022 – Town of Jackson, WI – A 56-year-old Town of Jackson man was killed Monday evening, May 23, 2022 in a backhoe accident at 9:17 p.m. at his home in the 2000 block of Spring Valley Road.
According to Washington County Sheriff Martin Schulteis, the wife of the man called 911 when she came home and located the victim pinned under a backhoe attachment that had been sitting on wood blocks in the yard.
The initial investigation suggests the victim attempted to drive a lawn mower underneath the backhoe boom and caught a portion of the mower on the backhoe bucket.
This caused the 4,000-pound piece of machinery to fall onto the victim. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
