14 departments responded to barn fire in Town of Trenton, WI | By Sergeant Scott Hanson

January 25, 2023 – Town of Trenton, WiOn Wednesday January 25, 2023 at approximately 10:40 a.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a barn on fire at 5917 CTH Y in the Town of Trenton. The caller reported the inside of the barn was fully engulfed and the animals were being moved outside.

The Newburg Fire Department was paged and quickly upgraded the structure fire to a full box level. The following Fire Departments responded to assist: Fillmore, Saukville, Waubeka, Fredonia, West Bend, Cedarburg, Port Washington, Jackson, Grafton, Slinger, Boltonville, Richfield, Silver Creek, and Lifestar EMS.
A Deputy from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was in the area and quickly arrived on scene and began to use his fire extinguisher to knock down the flames. A second Deputy arrived a short time later and also used his extinguisher.
A garden hose was then utilized to keep the flames down which prevented the flames from rapidly spreading to the main barn. A worker of the farm also assisted in moving contents of the barn away from the shared barn wall. While moving the contents the worker suffered minor smoke inhalation and was transported to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.
Upon arrival of the Newburg Fire Department and assisting agencies the structure fire was quickly brought under control, containing the fire to the shop portion of the barn.
The main barn sustained some minor damage but remained intact. CTH Y was closed for approximately two hours to assist in firefighting efforts. There were no reported injuries to fire personnel as a result of the fire. There is no damage estimate at this time and the fire is not suspicious in nature.
