West Bend/Slinger, Wi – Residents of the 58th Assembly District (Slinger, Jackson, Polk, Newburg, Trenton, Town of West Bend, and most of the City of West Bend) will head to the polls on August 11 for many elections, including an open Assembly seat.
Bernie Newman is a conservative candidate seeking the seat. He is a lifelong resident of Washington County, an outdoorsman, and a family man. Having known him for years, I can easily say I have met few people in my life with as much integrity, honesty, and passion as Bernie has. He has always been willing to do the right thing, even if it isn’t popular.
For decades, Bernie has built a career and a strong work ethic in landscaping. In addition to that, Bernie has always made community involvement a high priority. From attending fundraisers to supporting veteran and youth groups, and volunteering at events all over Washington County, serving others has always been one of his core values.
He has previously served as a member of the West Bend Planning Commission, currently serves as the Chairman of the Washington County Conservation Congress, serves on the Washington County deer advisory council, and for nearly 10 years has been president of a civic group called Common Sense Citizens of Washington County.
His awareness and attention to public policy both locally and at the state level is also very admirable. Bernie first sparked his interest in civics and government by accompanying an elderly neighbor of his to Germantown Village board meetings as residents pushed back against efforts to expand the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewer District. His life experiences, work ethic, family values, and community involvement make him an incredible choice to serve as a State Assembly Representative.
Bernie is running not to represent political insiders or Madison lobbyists. He is running to represent the residents of the 58th Assembly District.
Vote people over politics on August 11.
