Fond du Lac Co., WI – Travel to the Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit on Saturday, May 10, to bird the hot spots of the Kettle Moraine State Forest from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join Jackie Scharfenberg, retired forest naturalist, to search for returning summer residents, passing through migrants, and year-round winged wonders.
More than 230 bird species have been identified in the Northern Unit.
The birding expedition begins at the Mauthe Lake Recreation Area, N1490 County Road GGG, Campbellsport – between County Road SS and County Road S near New Prospect.
There will then be a carpool to the Jersey Flats to search for grassland birds.
The morning ends at the Parnell Trail to hunt for interior woodland species.
Come dressed for the weather and wear appropriate footwear for possible muddy spots on the trails.
Remember to bring your favorite binoculars and bird field guide.
This program is best for people over 10 years old. A valid Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required to park at the Mauthe Lake and Parnell Trail parking lots.

Unit providing support for the recreation, resource management, and education efforts within the Northern Unit.
