Council votes down license for Smokin Ink

Travis Nyholm from Smokin Ink, 161 S. Fifth Avenue, in West Bend is going to have to work on a Plan B as the West Bend Licensing Board and the Common Council voted against a tattoo and body piercing establishment license.

For the second meeting in a row the council went into closed session to review an item brought to the table following a background check. After the meeting Nyholm said he’ll work to put the business in someone else’s name so he can open the doors and start making some money.

Nyholm has set up his vapor and tattoo shop in the corner storefront at Walnut and Fifth Avenue; that location was previously home to Hometown Talents & Treasures, John’s Photography on Main and Mehring’s Fish Market.

Nyholm expected it would be a couple weeks yet before he could get his paperwork in order; the license still needs to be approved by the council.
