The new bridge, located just a mile east of Hwy 45, was built by Pheifer Brothers Construction Co. from Neenah Wisconsin.
The bridge project was managed through the Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation’s Local Bridge Program, with 80% of the project funds being provided by the State of Wisconsin and 20% being funded by Washington County.
The project involved replacing the bridge built in 1950 with a safer and wider bridge. A significant highlight of the new bridge is the addition of a 12-foot-wide multi-use path along the south side of the bridge which will provide a safe, barrier-separated river crossing for Ice Age Trail hikers within the Kettle Moraine State Forest.
