Subject: Dehumidifier Recall Information

Recently the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has investigated several residential fires where it is believed the cause of the fire may have been a dehumidifier.
During these investigations our agency learned of several recalls on dehumidifiers and urge citizens to check whether they are using a dehumidifier on this recall list.
Additionally, based on information from a local fire department, people should plug their dehumidifier directly into an outlet of ample size to sustain the load of the dehumidifier.
Extension cords for use with a dehumidifier should be avoided. Below is a link to recall information.
