July 10, 2017 – Washington County, WI – Scammers are using the transition period for the replacement of old Medicare cards with a newer version to benefit themselves.
Frank Frassetto of the state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says the newer version of Medicare cards won’t be using Social Security numbers. He says if you get a call from someone claiming to be with Medicare just hang up because it is a scam. The replacement of Medicare cards is gradual and will take until April of 2019 to complete.
