Washington County, WI – Today’s tribute is to United States Army veteran Don Kurer of Allenton, WI.
Kurer was a paratrooper for the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division from 1944 to 1946; Asian Pacific theater, Philippines, and Japan.
Kurer was on the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight in 2016 with his grandson, Noah Murphy, of Elkhart, IN. Murphy is also a veteran, having served in the Air Force Reserves, as is Murphy’s brother, Isaac, also of Elkhart, IN, who spent six years in the Army National Guard.
Kurer has been married to his wife, Dorothy, for 71 years. Together they have four children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
