Obituary | Elmer C. Eggert, 100, of West Bend

March 23, 2021 – West Bend, WI – Elmer C. Eggert, 100, of West Bend, entered Eternal Life on March 18, 2021, at Cedar Community in West Bend.

 

Elmer Eggert

Elmer was born on November 8, 1920, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Walter and Esther (nee Lange) Eggert. On June 13, 1948, he was united in marriage to Betty (nee Bernitt) Eggert.

Elmer kept himself busy with many activities. His memory of events, people, dates, and celebrations was amazing. Elmer was proud to serve his country in World War II in the Army Air Force from September 1942 to November 1945. He was stationed in various parts of Europe and was one of many brave service members that landed at Normandy and Omaha Beach.

His life-long interests included wood working, teaching, Scouting, fishing, time outdoors, gardening, cross stitching, reading, being at the family cottage, and sharing his many stories with everyone he met along the way.

Elmer is survived by his sisters Ann Hopkins, Florence Panning, and sister-in-law Marion Eggert; two children, Sandra (Don) Earnest of Germantown and Keith (Mary) Eggert of Batavia, IL; four grandchildren, Mark (Beth) Earnest, Angie (Andy) Schatz, Andy (Briane) Eggert, and Katie Eggert; five great-grandchildren, Megan Schatz, Matt Schatz, Tyler Earnest, Benjamin Earnest, and Collin Eggert; his many other loving family members, nieces, nephews, and numerous treasured friends.

Elmer was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty, his parents, Walter and Esther Eggert, brother, Eugene Eggert, and a great-grandson, Zachary Earnest.

A private family service will be held at Myhrum-Patten Funeral Home and Wisconsin Memorial Park and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorials to Cedar Community Woodwork Shop or Cancer Center at Froedtert West Bend Hospital are appreciated.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to the loving and caring staff at Cedar Community and Cedar Community Hospice.
