January 21, 2025 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at approximately 10:13 a.m., a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling south on I-41 near CTH N, located in the Township of Eldorado.
At that time the deputy was passed by a speeding vehicle which was traveling on the gravel shoulder. The deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop of the vehicle, the driver did not yield and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The pursuit continued south on I-41 where the driver continued operating in a reckless manner. The driver was operating across both lanes of southbound travel and on the shoulder while traveling at an excessive speed.
A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy and Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers were able to successfully deploy multiple tire deflation devices on I-41 near Lost Arrow Road. As the vehicle approached the CTH B offramp, the driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled into the grass, striking the ditch and becoming disabled. The driver attempted to flee on foot and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
The driver, a 31-year-old Cecil man, was the only occupant in the vehicle. He was evaluated on scene by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation. Upon being discharged, he will be transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of felony fleeing / eluding and 1st degree recklessly endangering safety.
The pursuit lasted approximately 13 miles. A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office patrol car sustained minor damage during the pursuit due to tire debris coming off the pursued vehicle.
A civilian vehicle also sustained minor damage from gravel getting kicked up while the vehicle was passing on the shoulders. No injuries were suffered by anyone during the pursuit.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol and Fond du Lac Fire Rescue.
