Obituary | Gerald L. “Butch” Priesgen, 70 of Rubicon

November 18, 2020 – Rubicon, WI – Gerald L. “Butch” Priesgen, 70 of Rubicon, Wisconsin went home to Heaven Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Froedtert Hospital in West Bend, WI.

Butch was born July 6, 1950 in Oconomowoc, WI to Vanilda V. (nee Moser) “Nellie” and Eugene B. Priesgen Sr. “Tiny.” He graduated from Hartford Union High School. He was united in marriage to Betty A. Multhauf on February 21, 1976 at the Holy Hill in Hubertus, WI.

Butch worked for the City of Hartford DPW for 22 years, Guelig Brother’s Construction for 3 years, and was the board supervisor for the Town of Rubicon for over 26 years. He also worked for Multhauf Trucking and farmed all of his life on the Multhauf Farm since he was 13 years old.

Butch served on the Neosho Fire Department and on the board of directors in the Restore Antique Tractor Club. He was also member of the Neosho Advancement Association and a lifetime member of the Baraboo Tractor Club. Butch was a Green Bay Packer, Chicago Bears and Nascar fan. He also enjoyed coaching summer softball and playing Sheepshead in a card club for over 20 years.

Butch is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Betty Priesgen; loving son, Troy Priesgen; dear siblings, Darlene (Dale) Grinwald and Eugene Jr. (friend, Cindy) Priesgen, both of Rubicon, Janet Klink of Franklin, and Jeffery Priesgen of Hartford; cherished cousins, Sue Grinwald and Mary Dahlquist (Butch’s kidney donor, 2/22/2006), and treasured friends, John Stocker and Tom and Mary Schaefer. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jessica M.; parents; brother, Ronald Priesgen “Ronnie;” parents-in-law, Eugene and Marie Multhauf; brothers-in-law, Jim and Donnie Multhauf, and Nick Klink; and sisters-in-law, Mary (Ralph) Noll and Bonnie Multhauf.

Butch’s family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, November 30, 2020 from 2 p.m.- 3:45 p.m. St. John Catholic Church (W1170 Rome Road Rubicon, WI 53078). Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at the church at 4 p.m with Rev. Britto Suresh officiating.

A private committal will be held in St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Butch are appreciated to the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin or to a charity of one’s choice in care of Betty Priesgen.
