Germantown School District to close and activities cancelled due to weather | By Jeff Holmes

Jan. 29, 2019 – Germantown, WI – A message from Germantown School District regarding school and activity update related to weather.

Germantown School District

Dear Parents and Students,

This is Jeff Holmes, Germantown School District Superintendent. As a result of the issuance of a National Weather Service (NWS) wind chill warning beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29 and all day Wednesday, Jan. 30, all Germantown School District (GSD) schools will be closed with all activities cancelled as of 6 PM tonight through Wednesday night.

A reminder: Germantown School District, other Washington County school districts, and the majority of the North Shore Region school districts use the NWS’s wind chill protocol for making cold weather determinations; hence, “Advisory” = open and “Warning” = closed, delayed start, or early release (varies due to timing and duration); additionally, please know that the NWS continues to contemplate Thursday’s situation – stay posted.

I want to assure everyone that we take the safety and security of our students and staff seriously and that inclement weather determinations are one of the most difficult aspects associated with school operations.

Your patience and understanding in this regard is greatly appreciated.

Be safe.
