Germantown H.S. alum to be inducted into UW-Whitewater Athletic Hall of Fame

Goodman competed for the UW-Whitewater gymnastics program from 2008-10. A phenom on the vault, Goodman was the Warhawks’ first individual national champion on the apparatus and the first two-time individual national champion in program history.

Goodman led UW-Whitewater to a third-place finish at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships in 2009 and 2010, and a fifth-place finish in 2008. A two-time All-American and national champion on the vault (2008 and 2010), Goodman also earned All-America honors in 2009 after finishing fifth in the all-around.

A member of the WIAC’s All-Time Gymnastics Team, Goodman claimed six individual Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles over the course of her career, securing titles in the all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise in 2008.

She defended her title on the uneven bars each of the next two seasons. In 2010, she led the Warhawks to a WIAC team title. Goodman broke the UW-Whitewater records on the vault (9.8) and all-around (38.425) during her time as a Warhawk – marks that still rank among the top 20 at the time of her induction.

A native of Colgate, Wisconsin and a product of Germantown High School, Goodman earned a bachelor’s degree in health, human performance and recreation in 2010.

Weyer Goodman and 12 additional Warhawks will be recognized for their contributions to Warhawk Athletics as part of the UW-Whitewater football team’s game against UW-Platteville on Saturday, October 25, at 1 p.m.

Inductees will be part of the Homecoming Parade, which begins at 10 a.m., will be honored at halftime of the football game and at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet, which begins following the contest at 4:30 p.m. at the University Center’s Hamilton Room.
