Hartford Police Dept. issues statement regarding Millpond fatality

 

August 15, 2020 – Hartford, WI – On today’s date, at 1639 hours, Hartford Police officers were called to the Millpond in the downtown area for a report of a male individual in the Millpond in distress. Officers responded to the area and witnessed victim go below the water’s surface. They did not observe the victim resurface. A Hartford Officer entered the water in an attempt to rescue the victim, however, was unable to immediately locate the victim under water. Hartford Fire and EMS were dispatched along with Washington County Dive Team to assist with the recovery effort. At 1741 hours the 28-year-old deceased male victim was pulled from the water. A Hartford Police Chaplain was called to the scene to support the family.

It was reported by witnesses that the victim entered the water in an attempt to recover a remote control boat that was sinking. The Hartford Police Department, Hartford Fire and EMS, and other responders pass their condolences along to the family of the victim.
