Hartford, WI area schools closed January 21, 2025 due to extreme cold | By Katrina Cravy

January 20, 2025 – Hartford, WI – Due to the extreme cold tomorrow, January 21, 2025, Hartford Area Schools in Wisconsin will be closed.

“We appreciate your understanding and as always, the safety of our students and staff is of the highest priority,” according to HUHS.

Watch for other schools across Washington County to follow suit.

The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST
TONIGHT…
…EXTREME COLD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO NOON
CST TUESDAY…

* WHAT…For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 29 below. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 36 below expected.

* WHERE…Portions of east central, south central, and southeast Wisconsin.

* WHEN…For the Cold Weather Advisory, until midnight CST tonight. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from midnight tonight to noon CST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
